I am continuing to get discrepancies between my measurements of Barbie and the measurements claimed by others including those who are taking their own measurements, so I have decided to do new measurements for which I will document my methodology for taking the measurements and the exact design year and model of the Barbie I am measuring. Anyone interested can see how I did this so if you don’t trust me you can check the results for yourself. The Doll is a Halloween Witch Barbie with a copyright stamp of 1999 so most kids under the age of 13 would probably be playing with a doll with this body design.

I placed the Barbie Doll on the measuring table and used a tape to measure from the top of her head to the bottom of her heel not her toes which are pointed. Allowing for compression of the bottom of her feet that would occur if she were a real person standing up, her hieght is 11 ¼ or 11.25 inches.
It is difficult to use a tape measure on something so small, so I cut a thin strip of paper and taped one end to the back of the Doll.
I then rapped the paper strip around the Barbie's bust as shown in the photos.
I then marked where the to ends of the tape meet. (Note the 1999 copyright mark on Barbie's back.)
I remove the paper strip from the Doll and taped it to the measuring table.
I then used a machinists ruler to measure from the mark to the end of the paper strip. I got a measurement of 4 and 7/8 or 4.875 inches
Now for the math.
If the Doll is 11.25 “ and you want to know what her measurements would be if she were 6 feet tall,
you divide 6' or 72” by 11.25 which gives you 6.4 which is the ratio that you multiply all measurements from the Doll to get the 6 foot tall proportions.
11.25” Barbie Doll has 4.875" bust so 6.4 x 4.875= 31.2
That's right if Barbie were 6 feet tall she would have a 31.2 inch bust, not the 39 inches that is so often reported.
Now the waist: 3.0625 x 6.4 = 19.6
And the Hips: 5.1875 x 6.4 = 33.2
THE TRUTH AT LAST, THE REAL MEASUREMENTS AND PROPORTIONS OF A MODERN BARBIE DOLL
So there you have it Barbie's measurements if she were 6 feet tall would be
31.2 x 19.6 x 33.2 not exactly average but hardly the outrageously unrealistic, bizarre, grotesque and scarey proportions that her critics claim.
